Construction Drawings Technician
Technical drawing, drafting or drawing, is the act and discipline of composing drawings that visually communicate how something functions or is constructed. The Certificate in Construction Drawings is designed to support employment opportunities in the construction industry, primarily in architectural, engineering, manufacturing and government offices. The program focuses on production of construction drawings for commercial, residential and industrial buildings.
The target audience for this associate certificate are those that are interested in entering the field of technical drafting or professionals who have experience in the construction industry and are looking for new professional development opportunities. This is the program that will provide graduates with technical/electrical/structural/mechanical drafting skills and knowledge of structural components, in order to be able to translate technical information into clear and accurate construction drawings.
Career Opportunities
This program is specially designed to prepare you for entry-level drafting positions in related fields which include plumbing, HVAC, mechanical, electrical, architectural, civil or structural engineering offices as well as manufacturing, facility management and municipal services.It is also excellent preparation for continuing your education in the field of architecture.
Lenghth of Program
This program is 8 weeks long(240 hours total).
Credential Awarded
Upon successful completion of this program, students will receive a Recognition of Achievement (RoA).
This program is pending approval from Private Training Institutions Branch (PTIB).
- Applicants must successfully complete the admissions interview and entrance assessments with a minimum score of 50% in the English Assessment and a minimum score of 50% in the Math Assessment
