The Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Technician Program is meticulously crafted to furnish participants with the expertise necessary for the installation and maintenance of electric vehicle charging infrastructure. Encompassing essential subjects such as electrical safety, EV charging station installation methodologies, protocol comprehension, issue diagnosis, and adherence to pertinent regulations and standards, the curriculum provides a comprehensive understanding of the field.

Program Overview:
The Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Technician Program is meticulously designed to equip participants with the expertise required for the installation and maintenance of electric vehicle charging infrastructure. Covering essential subjects such as electrical safety, EV charging station installation methodologies, protocol comprehension, issue diagnosis, and adherence to regulations and standards, the curriculum offers a comprehensive understanding of the field. Hands-on training involves installing various types of EV charging stations in residential and commercial settings, preparing students for careers in the rapidly expanding electric transportation infrastructure sector. Through a combination of lab exercises, simulations, and real-world fieldwork, students develop practical proficiencies essential for navigating the dynamic landscape of the EV industry. Graduates emerge with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to deploy, service, and enhance electric vehicle charging infrastructure, contributing to the proliferation of sustainable transportation solutions to meet the growing demand for EV charging services.

Program Accreditation:

The application is currently in process. No enrollments, advertisements, or marketing will be entertained until this program is approved by the Private Training Institutions Branch (PTIB) of the Ministry of Post-Secondary Education and Future Skills.

Length of the Program:
The duration of our program spans six weeks, encompassing a total of 180 hours of comprehensive instruction and hands-on training. This condensed time frame ensures that students receive a focused and intensive educational experience, preparing them effectively for their chosen career paths within the EV charging industry.

 

Prior to Acceptance:

Before being accepted into our program, applicants must fulfill the following requirements:

  1. English Language Proficiency Requirements
    • IELTS Academic: Minimum overall score of 5.5 OR
    • TOEFL iBT: Minimum overall score of 46 OR
    • CELPIP:
      • Listening: 6
      • Speaking: 6
      • Reading: 5
      • Writing: 5   OR
    • CAEL: Minimum overall score of 40 OR
    • Duolingo English Test: Minimum overall score of 95 OR
    • Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic: Minimum overall score of 43 OR
    • Cambridge English Qualifications: B2 First exam (FCE) Institutions may include other Cambridge Qualifications at a higher level (i.e., C2 Proficiency (CPE)).
      • B2 First (FCE): Minimum overall score of 160 or “C” OR
    • Cambridge Linguaskill: Minimum overall B2 level OR
    • LANGUAGECERT Academic: Minimum overall B2 level OR
    • Michigan English Test (MET): Minimum overall B2 level OR
    • iTEP Academic: Minimum overall score of 3.5 OR
    • EIKEN: Minimum placement of Grade Pre-1 OR
    • High School Credential:
      • Evidence of 3 years full-time secondary education (Grade 8 to Grade 12)
      • Minimum passing grade of C in English 10, 11, or 12 AND
  2. Program Proficiency Requirement
    • Successful completion of provincially recognized Grade 10, 11, or 12 Mathematics with a minimum passing score of C. OR
    • Successful completion of a math assessment conducted in-house by Ace Community College with a minimum score of 50%.

By meeting these criteria, applicants demonstrate their commitment and readiness to embark on a successful journey towards becoming skilled professionals in the trades industry.

  • Understanding of Electric Vehicle Technology: Participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of electric vehicle technology, including different types of electric vehicles, components of EV charging systems, and how they operate.
  • Electrical Safety Practices: Students will learn best practices for electrical safety, including proper handling of electrical equipment, adherence to safety protocols, and mitigation of potential hazards during installation and maintenance
  • Installation Techniques: Participants will develop proficiency in installing various types of EV charging stations, including residential, commercial, and public charging infrastructure. This includes knowledge of mounting, wiring, and configuring charging units.
  • Compliance and Regulations: Students will become familiar with local and national regulations and standards governing EV charging infrastructure installation, ensuring compliance with relevant codes and requirements.
  • Troubleshooting and Maintenance: The program will equip participants with skills to identify and troubleshoot common issues with EV charging stations, as well as perform routine maintenance tasks to ensure optimal performance and longevity of the equipment.
  • Customer Interaction and Communication: Participants will learn effective communication techniques for interacting with clients, providing guidance on EV charging solutions, and addressing customer concerns or questions
