The Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Technician Program is meticulously designed to equip participants with the expertise required for the installation and maintenance of electric vehicle charging infrastructure. Covering essential subjects such as electrical safety, EV charging station installation methodologies, protocol comprehension, issue diagnosis, and adherence to regulations and standards, the curriculum offers a comprehensive understanding of the field. Hands-on training involves installing various types of EV charging stations in residential and commercial settings, preparing students for careers in the rapidly expanding electric transportation infrastructure sector. The Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Technician Program prepares students for entry-level roles such as EV Charging Installer, Maintenance Assistant, Charging Station Maintenance, Renewable Energy Operator, or Maintenance Worker, Electrical Helper. Graduates support the installation, basic maintenance, and operation of EV charging stations in industries like automotive, energy, and infrastructure supporting the growing demand for sustainable solutions.
Program Accreditation:
The application is currently in process. No enrollments, advertisements, or marketing will be entertained until this program is approved by the Private Training Institutions Regulatory Unit (PTIRU) of the Ministry of Post-Secondary Education and Future Skills.
This program is not eligible for a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP).
Length of the Program:
The duration of our program spans six weeks, encompassing a total of 180–240 hours over 12 weeks of comprehensive instruction and hands-on training. This condensed time frame ensures that students receive a focused and intensive educational experience, preparing them effectively for their chosen career paths within the EV charging industry.

High School Credential
- Evidence that 3 years of full-time secondary education (Grades 8-12), or 2 years of secondary education (including English 10 and 11 with a grade of ‘C’ or higher) from a country where English is one of the principal languages
OR
Other Criteria
- 2 years of full-time post-secondary education have been completed in the program’s language of instruction in a country where the language of instruction is one of the principal languages.
OR
Mature Domestic Students:
- This option applies only if:
- The program’s language of instruction is English.
- The applicant is a mature domestic student facing barriers.
- The applicant is unable to access their educational records or provide sufficient proof of secondary/post-secondary education.
- Accuplacer Assessment:
- Applicants must be 19 years or older at the start of the program and a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
- Must provide attestation of completing at least three years of full-time education in English in a country where English is one of the primary languages (ELL courses do not count).
- Must achieve the following minimum scores on the Accuplacer English Assessment (Next Generation):
- Reading: 230
- Writing: 230
- WritePlacer: 4
AND
- Math Proficiency Requirements : Successful completion of provincially recognized Grade 10, 11, or 12 Mathematics with a minimum passing score of C.
OR
Successful completion of a math assessment conducted in-house by Ace Community College with a minimum score of 50%.
- Understand Electric Vehicle Technology – Gain foundational knowledge of electric vehicle systems, types of EVs, and the components of EV charging infrastructure.
- Apply Electrical Safety Practices – Demonstrate proper handling of electrical equipment, adherence to safety protocols, and hazard mitigation during installation and maintenance.
- Install EV Charging Stations – Develop proficiency in installing residential, commercial, and public EV charging stations, including mounting, wiring, and configuration.
- Ensure Regulatory Compliance – Understand and adhere to local and national regulations, codes, and standards governing EV charging infrastructure.
- Diagnose and Troubleshoot Issues – Identify and resolve common technical problems in EV charging stations to ensure proper functionality and efficiency.
- Perform Routine Maintenance – Carry out regular inspections and maintenance tasks to optimize the performance and longevity of EV charging systems.
- Gain Hands-On Experience – Apply theoretical knowledge through lab exercises, simulations, and real-world fieldwork to develop practical skills.
- Contribute to Sustainable Transportation – Support the growing demand for electric vehicle infrastructure by deploying, servicing, and enhancing EV charging solutions.
