Electrician Common Core Level 2
Our Electrician Common Core Level 2 program offers employer-sponsored students the opportunity to further their education along the Construction Electrician apprenticeship pathway. Building upon the foundational knowledge acquired in Level 1, this program provides comprehensive instruction in both the classroom and hands-on lab and shop environments. Students will enhance their proficiency in mathematics, circuit concepts, and other essential skills essential for success in the electrical trade.
Program Highlights:
Throughout the program, students will delve into the general area competencies required of a Level 2 electrician, preparing them to advance along their apprenticeship pathway upon completion of technical training. By honing their skills and knowledge, graduates will emerge ready to take on the responsibilities of a 3rd year apprentice, contributing effectively to both residential and commercial construction projects.
Career Pathway:
Upon graduation, students will be equipped to qualify as apprentice electricians, capable of undertaking diverse roles on construction sites. Whether working on residential or commercial projects, graduates of our Electrician Common Core Level 2 program are prepared to excel as skilled professionals in the construction and industrial electrician fields. Once students complete the five-year program, and pass an interprovincial standards exam, he/she will receive a Certificate of Qualification, with a Red Seal endorsement recognized across Canada, and a Certificate of Apprenticeship
Program Duration:
The Electrician Common Core Level 2 program spans eight weeks, comprising a total of 300 hours of intensive instruction and practical training. This condensed time frame ensures that students receive focused and comprehensive education, maximizing their learning outcomes and preparing them for success in their apprenticeship journey.
Regulation and Accreditation:
The Electrician Common Core Level 2 program is regulated by Skilled Trades BC, ensuring alignment with industry standards and best practices. Additionally, our program is also approved by Private Training Institutions Regulatory Unit (PTIRU).

This program is not eligible for a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP).

- English Language Proficiency Requirements
Provide verified results for one of the English language proficiency tests listed below. Test results must be dated no more than two years before the start date of the program.

OR
High School Credential
- Evidence that 3 years of full-time secondary education (Grades 8-12), or 2 years of secondary education (including English 10 and 11 with a grade of ‘C’ or higher) from a country where English is one of the principal languages. OR
Other Criteria
- 2 years of full-time post-secondary education have been completed in the program’s language of instruction in a country where the language of instruction is one of the principal languages.
OR
Mature Domestic Students:
This option applies only if:
- The program’s language of instruction is English.
- The applicant is a mature domestic student facing barriers.
- The applicant is unable to access their educational records or provide sufficient proof of secondary/post-secondary education.
Accuplacer Assessment:
- Applicants must be atleast 19 years or older at the start of the program and a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
- Must provide attestation of completing at least three years of full-time education in English in a country where English is one of the primary languages (ELL courses do not count).
- Must achieve the following minimum scores on the Accuplacer English Assessment (Next Generation):
- Reading: 230
- Writing: 230
- WritePlacer: 4 AND
2. Must be a sponsored apprentice registered with SkilledTradesBC.
