HVAC & Heat Pumps Installer Training Program

The HVAC & Heat Pumps Installer Training program is designed to provide participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel in the field of heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), and heat pump installation.

Program Overview:
Throughout the program, participants will gain a deep understanding of HVAC systems, including heat pump technology, system design, installation procedures, troubleshooting techniques, and maintenance practices. Emphasis is placed on hands-on learning experiences, allowing participants to develop practical skills through simulated installations and real-world scenarios.

Key components of the program include:

  • Comprehensive Curriculum: The program offers a well-rounded curriculum covering all aspects of HVAC and heat pump installation, including system design, equipment selection, ductwork installation, electrical wiring, refrigerant handling, and compliance with regulations and codes.
  • Experienced Instructors: Participants will learn from experienced industry professionals with extensive knowledge and expertise in HVAC systems and heat pump technology. Instructors provide personalized guidance and support to ensure participants fully grasp the material and develop the necessary skills.
  • Hands-On Training: Practical training is a central component of the program, allowing participants to apply theoretical knowledge in a hands-on setting. Through hands-on exercises, participants will gain proficiency in installing, servicing, and troubleshooting HVAC and heat pump systems, preparing them for real-world challenges in the field.
  • Industry-Relevant Skills: The program focuses on equipping participants with the skills and competencies demanded by employers in the HVAC industry. Participants will learn how to work safely, efficiently, and effectively, meeting industry standards and delivering high-quality installations and service.
  • Certification: Upon successful completion of the program, participants will receive a certification recognizing their achievement. This certification validates their skills and knowledge as HVAC and heat pump installers, enhancing their employability and career prospects in the industry.
  • Ongoing Support: The learning doesn’t end with the program. Participants will have access to ongoing support and resources to continue their professional development and stay updated on advancements in HVAC technology and industry trends.

Career Opportunities:

These professionals specialize in  install, maintain, and repair heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems, with expertise in heat pump technology, for residential, commercial, and industrial applications.

Program Accreditation:

The application is currently in process. No enrollments, advertisements, or marketing will be entertained until this program is approved by the Private Training Institutions Regulatory Unit (PTIRU) of the Ministry of Post-Secondary Education and Future Skills.

Length of the Program:
The duration of our program spans six weeks, encompassing a total of 180 hours of comprehensive instruction and hands-on training. This condensed time frame ensures that students receive a focused and intensive educational experience, preparing them effectively for their chosen career paths within the HVAC and heat pump industry.

This program is not eligible for a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP).

  1. English Language Proficiency Requirements

Provide verified results for one of the English language proficiency tests listed below. Test results must be dated no more than two years before the start date of the program.

OR

High School Credential

  • Evidence that 3 years of full-time secondary education (Grades 8-12), or 2 years of secondary education (including English 10 and 11 with a grade of ‘C’ or higher) from a country where English is one of the principal languages

OR

Other Criteria

  • 2 years of full-time post-secondary education have been completed in the program’s language of instruction in a country where the language of instruction is one of the principal languages.

OR

Mature Domestic Students:

  • This option applies only if:
  • The program’s language of instruction is English.
  • The applicant is a mature domestic student facing barriers.
  • The applicant is unable to access their educational records or provide sufficient proof of secondary/post-secondary education.
  • Accuplacer Assessment:
    • Applicants must be 19 years or older at the start of the program and a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
    • Must provide attestation of completing at least three years of full-time education in English in a country where English is one of the primary languages (ELL courses do not count).
    • Must achieve the following minimum scores on the Accuplacer English Assessment (Next Generation):
      • Reading: 230
      • Writing: 230
      • WritePlacer: 4

AND

  1. Math Proficiency Requirements : Successful completion of provincially recognized Grade 10, 11, or 12 Mathematics with a minimum passing score of C.

OR

 Successful completion of a math assessment conducted in-house by Ace Community College with a minimum score of 50%.

  • Proficiency in installing, maintaining, and repairing HVAC systems, with a focus on heat pump technology.
  • Competence in assessing site conditions, selecting appropriate equipment, and performing installations according to industry standards.
  • Ability to troubleshoot HVAC and heat pump systems, diagnose problems, and implement effective solutions.
  • Understanding of safety protocols, regulations, and codes governing HVAC installations to ensure compliance and minimize risks.
  • Mastery of basic principles of heat transfer, thermodynamics, and refrigeration necessary for efficient operation of HVAC and heat pump systems.
  • Skill development in reading blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals to interpret system designs and perform installations accurately.
  • Knowledge of energy efficiency practices and sustainability principles to optimize system performance and minimize environmental impact.
  • Proficient use of tools, equipment, and diagnostic instruments essential for conducting installations, maintenance, and repairs effectively.
  • Effective communication and customer service skills to interact with clients, understand their needs, and provide professional service.
  • Preparation for industry certifications and licensure, demonstrating competency and enhancing employability in the HVAC field.
