Program Overview:

Participants in the Solar PV Technical Sales Training Program is crafted in collaboration with industry experts to meet the growing demand for skilled professionals in the renewable energy sector. Participants will gain hands-on experience and theoretical understanding in the following core areas:

  • Qualifying Prospects: Learn effective techniques to identify and assess potential clients, understand their needs, and determine the suitability of PV solutions.
  • Site Analysis: Master the art of conducting thorough site assessments, evaluating solar resource potential, and optimizing system placement considering factors like shading, orientation, and structural integrity.
  • Conceptual Design: Develop skills in sizing PV systems based on energy requirements, selecting components such as modules and inverters, and designing layouts that maximize performance and visual appeal.
  • Performance Analysis: Gain competence in estimating energy production, conducting performance simulations, and analyzing system efficiency to ensure accurate projections and optimal performance.
  • Costs, Incentives, Savings, and Return: Understand the financial aspects of PV installations, including estimating costs, identifying incentives and rebates, and calculating return on investment (ROI) metrics for clients.
  • Proposal Preparation and Presentation: Acquire skills to prepare compelling proposals that outline technical details, financial benefits, and environmental impacts clearly and persuasively. Learn effective presentation techniques to engage stakeholders and address client concerns.

Program Accreditation:

The application is currently in process. No enrollments, advertisements, or marketing will be entertained until this program is approved by The North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP).

Length of the Program:
The duration of our program spans one week, encompassing a total of 40 hours of comprehensive instruction and hands-on training. This condensed time frame ensures that students receive a focused and intensive educational experience, preparing them effectively for their chosen career paths within the renewable energy industry.

Category A:

  • Completion of a minimum of ten (10) hours of OSHA Outreach Training Program for the Construction Industry training (or provincial equivalent); AND
  • Completion of at least 58 hours of PV training, which includes:
  • At least forty (40) hours of advanced PV-specific training covering the NABCEP PVTS Job Task Analysis
  • A maximum of eighteen (18) may be obtained from non-accredited, non-certified sources; AND
  • Completion of installations equaling at least 8Project Credits*

Category B:

  • Completion of a minimum of ten (10) hours of OSHA Outreach Training Program for the Construction Industry training (or provincial equivalent); AND
  • Completion of at least 58 hours of PV training, which includes:
  • At least forty (40) hours of advanced PV-specific training covering the NABCEP PVTS Job Task Analyses
  • A maximum of eighteen (18) may be obtained from non-accredited, non-certified sources; AND
  • Completion of installations equaling at least 4Project Credits*:
  • An Advanced Degree in Science or Engineering (Master’s or Bachelors’) OR
  • Associates degree in solar or renewable energy OR
  • Electrician’s License (Master or Journeyman) OR
  • Solar Contractor’s License (assuming the appropriate pre-requisites)

Projects Credits are as follows*:

  • System size of 1 – 25kW = 2 Project Credits
  • System size of 25kw- 1MW = 3 Project Credits
  • System Size of 1MW and up = 4 Project Credits

Students will learn the following topics related to Solar PV Technical Sales Training Program: 

  1. Qualifying Prospects
    1. Ability to effectively identify and assess potential clients, understand their needs, and determine their suitability for PV solutions. Moreover, develop skills to inform clients about Authorities having Jurisdiction and Utility requirements.
  2. Site Analysis
    1. Proficiency in conducting comprehensive site assessments like service rating, Busbar rating, Voltage and current ratings; evaluating solar resource potential peak sun hours, and optimizing system placement considering factors like shading, orientation, and structural integrity. Develop skills for electrical codes and OSHA regulations.
  3. Conceptual Design
    1. Capability to size PV systems based on energy requirements, select appropriate components (modules, inverters), and design layouts like module layout and electrical layout that maximize system performance and visual appeal.
  4. Performance Analysis
    1. Competence in estimating energy production based on insolation, conducting performance simulations, shade analysis, SLD analysis, environmental impact and analyzing system efficiency to ensure accurate projections and optimal performance.
  5. Costs, Incentives, Savings, and Return
    1. Understanding of estimating installation costs, identifying available incentives and rebates and Tax credits, calculating financial savings for clients, and determining return on investment (ROI) metrics.
  6. Proposal Preparation
    1. Skills to prepare compelling proposals that outline technical details, financial benefits, and environmental impacts clearly and persuasively.
  7. Proposal Presentation
    1. Ability to effectively present proposals to stakeholders, tailor presentations to address client concerns, and utilize visual aids to enhance understanding and credibility.
